This post may contain affiliate links. You know these tinsel things. The local dollar stores have them out for every holiday and usually they are either really tacky or just plain ugly. They also have hearts for Valentine's day and bunnies for Easter Did you know you can take them apart and make them your own? You sure can! What you need: tinsel decor items sisal rope, ribbon, twine, etc hot glue gun and glue All you have to do is take of the tinsel. There is usually an end somewhere near the bottom that is easy to find and then unwind. If not, cut it and unwrap it. When the tinsel is off you will be left with a bare plastic shell of out outline. All you need to do is rewrap your piece with whatever material you want. For the trees I used a rope and a ribbon. I cut a piece of ribbon to fit around the tree, glued it on and then worked my way to the top of the tree. For the pumpkin I decided to wrap it up with some thicker rope that I had. This is such a fun way to add some holiday decor to your home that has a more updated look and is cheap and easy to make! do it yourself |
