My problem was the squirrels, so I had to find a way to hang some specific feeders that the squirrels couldn't get at and the windows were always the perfect spot. It was hard finding feeders that could go on the windows and hold jelly or specific seed/mealworms, etc so I made these easy and affordable DIY bird feeders. What you'll need: some small jars wire and a wire cutter window hook For my jars, I found this 3 pack of votive holders at the dollar store and they worked perfectly. They were just large enough to hold some seed, but not too heavy to be able to be hung up on the window. Just make sure that whatever jar you choose will have a little bit of a wider spot on top and won't be too heavy to cause it to fall or bang into your window. Start by taking your wire and wrapping it around the spot where it will hang, just under the wider part on top. Wrap it around a few times and then twist the wire around it in once spot to hold that part together, leave a bit of length to create the hanger and then wrap it around the wire on the opposite side to keep it all in place. And that's it! Not you can attach your holder hanger thingy to the window, hang your feeder and fill it up. I've filled mine with different seeds, mealworms and jelly, but you can use anything to atract the smaller birds. diy projectsWant more DIY's?
