DIY cactus deco mesh wreath This post may contain affiliate links. I love a beautiful saguaro cactus! We lived in Arizona for a few years and I needed to have everything cactus. After moving to Wisconsin and especially around winter time I really start to miss the warmth and especially the sun. So this DIY cactus deco mesh wreath was the perfect thing I needed to remind me of the desert. What you will need: square wire wreath form circle wire wreath form green deco mesh pipe cleaners or twist ties for securing deco mesh wire cutter artificial flower optional * hello sign Start off by taking your round wreath and bend it into a more oval shape. My wreath frame was pretty flimsy so I could easily bend it by place my hands on opposite sides of the wreath and squeezing them together. Once you have the wreath reshaped, you will need your wire cutter to cut the wreath frame. What you are doing, is the 2 arms for your cactus out of the circle. I made 1 a little longer to give it more dimension, but you can do them both the same size if you wish. After you are done with the circle wreath, you will need to use your wire cutter to cut one side off of the square wreath to be the main piece of your cactus. Then it's time to assemble your pieces into the shape of your cactus. I used some pipe cleaners that were cut down to a smaller size and used them to attach the arms to the base of the cactus. Make sure to use enough pipe cleaners so that the arms stay attached and stay in place. Then it's time to start securing your deco mesh into place. There are many different ways to attach your deco mesh and you can do it however you like. I started with the middle piece first. I started at the bottom and wrapped around the side that had the wires open so that my next pieces of deco mesh would stay in place. Then I bunched it, secured it with a pipe cleaner and continued this until I had the entire middle section done. Then continue on to do both of the arms. Use as much deco mesh as you would like or until it is full enough to hide the wire and the pipe cleaners. I like doing my deco mesh wreaths very full, so I used 3 half sized small rolls of deco mesh (the ones from the dollar store) for this project. Then I hot glued an artificial flower to the top of my saguaro so that it looked like it was springtime in the desert. I also had some leftover pieces of wood and added a little "Hey y'all" sign with this DIY to the front of my cactus. You can leave it alone or add any sign that you wish. Then your saguaro is all ready to be hung up. Isn't it the cutest little DIY deco mesh cactus wreath you have ever seen?! o it yourselfWant more DIY's? |
