All the ones we found were either too big, the wrong color or they "just don't look right". So while she was at school, I decided to make her some. The best part of this tutorial is that you can make earrings of anything, not just cacti! What you will need: shrinky dink plastic earring posts pencil colors scissors E6000 glue clear acrylic spray sealer your oven Start by printing off a picture of your chosen image. I printed mine so that the image was around 1" tall, making it a great size once it was shrunk. Place your shrinky dink plastic over top your image and trace it onto the rough side of the shrinky dink plastic. If you're making earrings, make sure to trace the image twice. After you have your images traced you can color them in with your pencil colors. When you have your images all colored in, it's time to cut them out and then shrink them down. Follow the directions on your shrink plastic on how to properly shrink your images. Once your images have been shrunk, let them cool down for a few minutes then spray the rough side that you colored on, with a clear acrylic spray sealer. This will help to protect the coloring of your earrings. When your sealer has dried it's time to glue on your earring posts. Use your E6000 glue to attach each cactus to the pad of the earring post. When the glue has completely dried they are ready to be worn. Aren't these DIY cactus earrings just the cutest? And think of all the possibilities! do |
