These bookmarks are SOOO much fun and are quite easy to make.  My kids love to read and their bookmarks were either a folded page or a chunk of scrap paper that they could find.  These bookmarks are almost begging you to sit down and read a book!

What you will need:

clear page protectors
glitter, confetti, etc
woodburner
scissors
metal ruler or a metal square
a board to protect your table surface
Optional:  hole punch and ribbon

Alright, plug in that woodburner and let's get going!

Place your page protector on your board and get out your ruler or square.  Measure out how wide you want your bookmark to be and hold your ruler in that spot.  I made my bookmarks about 1 - 1.5" wide.

Take your woodburner and with one continuous movement, quickly but gently slide it against the side of your ruler to create a new seal in your page protector.  This may be a bit of a learning curve depending on how hot your woodburner gets.  Just try a few sample slides down your page protector so you can see how fast you need to move the woodburner.  You want it to seal and stick together.  If the 2 sides didn't stick together you went to fast.  If the pages ripped, you went to slow.

When the 2 sides have properly fused together it will look like this:

Then take your scissors and carefully cut just on the outside of your newly fused side.  Fill your bookmark with confetti, glitter or anything else you would like to use.  Once you have it filled up, use your woodburner to seal the top of the bookmark.  If you want to add a ribbon to the top of your bookmark, make a seal at the top of your bookmark and then again down about 3/4" inch.

Inside the top part is where you will use your hole punch to make a hole to insert your ribbon so.  The second seal keeps all the glitter inside from falling out when you punch the hole.

Then you can add a piece of ribbon or yarn and you're ready to use your new bookmark!
