How to paint canvas shoes This post may contain affiliate links. I bought this pair of white canvas shoes when they were on clearance figuring that eventually I'd wear them. Well, a year later they were still sitting in my closet because I hadn't yet worn out my previous pair. I had always wanted a pair of "fun" shoes and I figured these were the perfect pair to fancy up a bit! And since lately we've been doing a lot of cactus and succulent themed crafts (my daughter decided to redecorate in her room and wanted cactus') I figured cactus canvas shoes were perfect. What you will need: white canvas shoes pencil fabric markers waterproofing product Start out by sketching your design lightly onto your shoes with a pencil. If you're not good at free hand, have a picture nearby that you can sort of copy from. I googled some cactus pictures and used them as my guide. Then once you have your design sketched, start coloring it in. I got this large pack of fabric markers so that I had plenty of color options and could sort of do a watercolor look with my shoes. I absolutely love how they turned out. After your paint markers have completely dried on your shoes I would suggest using some type of waterproofing spray on your shoes. I used this product from Rustoleum and so far am very happy with it. Just follow the manufacturers directions for proper application then enjoy your fun new shoes! do it yourselfWant more DIY's? |
