This is a sponsored post. I have done very many DIY's throughout the years, but this Photowall mural is definitely one of my top 5 for a few reasons: 1. It was quick. There's nothing better for a DIYer than to get it done and see your results ASAP. I had it done in 3 hours from start to all cleaned up. 2. There were no special "tools" required that I had to buy. 3. It completely transformed the space. It was a plain white wall on a dead end hall with not many options for decorating besides a print (boring). 4. No one else has a wall like mine! :) PhotoWall asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them on a project. Ummm...yes please! They kindly gifted me my choice of wall mural or canvas and after looking through hundreds of their pieces I knew EXACTLY which one I was going for. Our home is mostly white walls with accents of gray and soft "succulent" colors, as I like to call it. I am also a big plant lover, so when I spotted this huge saguaro in the perfect shade of colors it was as if it was yelling "Jeennnn...helloooooo....do you see me?! I'd be perfect for that ugly wall!" I submitted my order and had the mural in my hands in less than a week! A week. It was cropped to my wall size, printed and it came all the way from Sweden to the US in under a week. I can't even get a letter back to my parents in Wisconsin that quick! Here you can see my wall before. To the right is a powder room and to the left is our master bedroom. Both rooms used often that I didn't want anything to sit on the floor obstructing the doorway and I was never able to find the right size or color print for the wall so it just stayed that way: white, boring and ugly. Poor guy. I should also add that Photowall can print murals for huge walls, I just was struggling with this wall. My Photowall mural came in a box with the mural, a bag of the paste and directions on what you need and how to hang up your wall mural. It suggested things like a pail for mixing the paste, a roller and tray for applying the paste then things like a level to make sure it is hung straight, a sponge for smoothing out the paper and a ruler for marking spots on your wall. I guess what you need depends on your expertise and the area you are hanging it. I have NEVER EVER hung wall paper before so I was a complete newbie doing this and I gotta say...it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did have one of the kids on hand to help since we have 9ft ceilings here and it was just easier with a second set of hands, but after that I got the kids out of the way and did it all myself. If you have hung wall paper before, you my friend, already know what to do and can just skip to Photowall's website and pick our your mural. If not, let me give you the basics. Your mural will come one 1 long roll. It is printed with each panel all connected and gives very clear directions the order and the top of the panel. All you do is cut on the dotted line and you have each of your panels. Then it's time to hang them up! The directions say to start left to right and top to bottom. I started on the left, but I began on the bottom. My mural has a standing saguaro and I wanted to make sure that I had all of the saguaro on the wall and less of the plain background. It was maybe a little trickier starting at the bottom, but for a newbie like me, it wasn't too bad. Here you can see I have 1 panel (mostly) hung and I am working on the second. What I didn't realize is how fast the paste would dry on the wall here in the desert when it's over 100* and the AC is constantly running. Duh Jen! But it went good since I could get the majority of it in place and then finish out the entire top at the end. And it worked out perfectly! Do you have a wall that could use a little something special? Need to spruce up one of your bedrooms with a gorgeous or playful backdrop? Or maybe you have a boring wall like mine that you just don't know what to do with? Did you know Photowall can also print custom prints and murals from your images? Yes they can!
