I had my 4th of July wreath hung up on my door, but my front porch needed something else.  So I dug around in my garage to see what I had laying around from other projects and a 1" square piece of wood.  I knew exactly what I was goingn to make with it, so I quick ran to the dollar store to grab what else I needed.

Once I got it all done, I had these adorable fireworks on display on my front porch!

What you'll need:

some square wood in whatever size you have
cut off saw
drill and drill bits
2 screws
wire cutter
some festive balloon weights (I got these at the dollar store)
acrylic paint
small piece of wood as a base (optional)

Start by taking your square wood and use your cut off saw to cut your fireworks to size.  I made one 15" and the other is about 21".

When you have your wood cut to size, take your drill and a small drill bit and drill a hole into the top of each of your pieces.  This is where you will insert your tinsel tops of your balloon weights.

Now it's time to paint your fireworks.  Paint them however you would like!  If your fireworks will be exposed to the elements outdoors, I would suggest spraying it with a clear acrylic sealer to help protect the paint job.

Once they are dry, you are ready to add your tinsel toppers.  Take your balloon weight apart and using a wire cutter, cut it off at the base.

If you plan to attach your fireworks to a base, now is the time to screw them in and attach them.  I used a base since my fireworks were rather small and I didn't trust them to stay standing by themselves.  I predrilled a hole through the base and a hole into the bottom of each firework.  Then from the underside of the base, use a screw to attach each firework onto the base.

Then take your tinsel topper and push the metal end into the hole that you predrilled on the top of your firework.  After that, your fireworks are ready to be displayed!
